Mothering Sunday

This Mothering Sunday is going to be different. And for many, it will be really tough.

It is my first one as a mum and I was looking forward to sharing it with my baby, my mother and my Grandmother. Sadly, with the self isolation of the elderly and those with health issues, it’s going to mean we won’t be able to spend time with all the people we love. So we need to find other ways to show our love – but the most important, is to keep our loved ones healthy by staying away if possible, and call or video call instead. I don’t say this lightly. It was a very painful personal decision for me too, even though it’s the right one.

And for people who don’t usually get to celebrate this day, lets celebrate all the amazing women key workers – the shop workers, NHS staff, carers, teachers/teaching assistants, delivery drivers, scientists and manufacturers. These women are the frontline in the defence against this virus and this Mothering Sunday, what better time to take a moment to say thank you!
