Following Monday’s government advice for all workers to stay at home unless they are an essential worker, I have been disappointed that many employers have flouted this advice – consequently putting the health of their workers and the public at risk.
It is also very frustrating to see a government department is contradicting its own government’s advice, with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) listing on its website only certain businesses to shut, but advising that all other businesses should continue trading.
The government should correct this advice immediately and order all non-essential workers to stay at home, without them having to fear punishment from their employers. Which is why I have co-signed this letter to the government.
