Fabian Hamilton MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Peace and Disarmament, in response to heightened tension between the United States and Iran said:

“Reports that Iranian warships are harassing the UN Navy must be taken seriously, but at this time of unprecedented international instability, President Trump’s public threat of military action and Iran’s decision to launch a military satellite are wholly irresponsible.

“Diplomacy should not take place on Twitter. The US and Iran must work with the United Nations to bring about a peaceful resolution to the current tensions and revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action, which is absolutely essential to any reconciliation between Iran and the West.”
