Jo Stevens on Betting and Gaming Council stopping advertising during lockdown

Jo Stevens MP, Labour’s Shadow Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Secretary, responding to the Betting and Gaming Council’s move to stop TV and radio advertising during the Coronavirus lockdown:

“This move from the Betting and Gaming Council is a very welcome one, but more still needs to be done to tackle problem gambling and to protect those at risk. It could start with extending the advertising ban to online platforms.

“Problem gambling costs lives, and young people are most at risk. We need permanent action that will have the biggest impact on minimising the misery of problem gambling.”
