Liz Kendall MP, Labour’s Shadow Social Care Minister, commenting on Care England’s call for additional funding for social care said:
“Social care providers must be given the funding they need to keep people safe and well during this pandemic.
“The Government has rightly said the NHS will get ‘whatever resources it needs’. The same must be true for social care which was already underfunded and experiencing high vacancy rates even before the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Care providers must be compensated for the additional costs they face and if necessary, the Government must consider passing on this additional funding directly to care providers, as the Irish Government has done.”
