Healthcare workers need PPE that fits, otherwise it offers little to no protection.
At this week’s Health & Social Care Select Committee I raised the important issue of consistent supplies of PPE and also the suitability and fit for women and BAME workers.
Shockingly we’ve had reports from the frontline that even though the NHS workforce is about 75% female and a large proportion staff at the L&D are from our BAME community, the PPE being sourced is made predominately for large, western males – causing problems getting a secure fit.
Government urgently needs to ensure a stable, consistent supply of PPE to our healthcare heroes and frontline workers.
