Labour responds to proposed changes to sentencing for terror offenders

Labour’s Shadow Justice Secretary, David Lammy MP, and Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary, Nick Thomas-Symonds MP, have promised to ‘look in detail’ and ‘work constructively’ with the government over the proposed Counter-Terrorism and Sentencing Bill.

Commenting, Rt Hon David Lammy MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Justice, said:

“The horrific terrorist attacks on British soil in recent years demonstrate the need to update terrorism sentencing legislation.

“Those who seek to terrorise our communities with savage acts of violence must be stopped.”

“We will never allow ourselves to be divided by those who commit heinous acts that seek to harm our way of life.
