Kate Green on Govt failure to meet target for laptops for disadvantaged children

Kate Green MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, commenting on reports that the Department for Education failed to meet its target to deliver 230k laptops to disadvantaged children by 30th June, said:

“This is extremely disappointing from the Government that, once again, gives grand announcements instead of following through on delivery.

“Disadvantaged children without access to IT have now spent nearly a term without adequate access to education. Ministers need to get the remaining laptops to the families who need them immediately, and provide proper support for children who will be catching up over the summer.”
