Children must not be forgotten in this crisis – Rosena Allin-Khan comments on YoungMinds’ survey

Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP, Labour’s Shadow Mental Health Minister, commenting on YoungMinds’ survey of parents and carers on the mental health impact of Coronavirus on young people, said:

“It’s worrying, but not unexpected, that the coronavirus pandemic has had a negative impact on so many people’s mental health.

“The Government must address the fact that a quarter of parents whose children had received mental health support in the previous three months said that their child was no longer able to access it even though they still needed it. This is a huge figure that has significant ramifications on young people’s health and long-term prospects. Children must not be forgotten in this crisis.

“All young people and families who need immediate mental health support must be able to access it.”
